Simple formulas.

1.  Open Excel.  In Excel 2013 hit the Escape or Enter key one time to open a blank spread sheet.
2.  Type your name in cell a1.
3.  Tab one time.
4.  Shift tab one time.
5.  Press alt o.
6.  Tap the letter c.
7.  Tap the letter a.
8.  Go to cell a2 and press control semi-colon to insert the date.
9.  Go to cell a3 and press control shift semi-colon to insert the time.
10.  Go to cell c5.
11.  Type =a5+b5
12.  Tab one time.
13.  Left one time and you will hear “zero” (0).
14.  Go to cell a5 and type the number 4.
15.  Go to cell b5 and type the number 4.
16.  Tab one time.
17.  Left arrow one time and you will hear the answer 8.
18.  Go to cell c6 and type =a6+b6
19.  Tab one time.
20.  Left arrow one time and you will hear “zero) (0).
21.  Go to cell a6 and type the number 5.
22.  Tab one time.
23.  Type the number 5 again in cell b6.
24.  Tab one time and you will hear the answer 10.
25.  Go to cell c7.
26.  Type =a7-b7
27.  Tab one time.
28.  Left arrow one time and you will hear “zero” (0).
29.  Go to cell a 7 and type the number 4.
30.  Tab one time and type the number 2 in cell b7.
31.  Tab one time and you will hear the answer 2.
32.  Go to cell c8.
33.  Type =a8-b8
34.  Tab one time.
35.  Left arrow one time and you hear “zero” (0).
36.  Go to cell a8.
37.  Type the number 5.
38.  Tab one time and type the number 3 in cell b8.
39.  Tab one time and you will hear the answer 2.
40.  Go to cell c9.
41.  Type a9*b9
42.  Tab one time.
43.  Left arrow one time and you will hear “zero” (0).
44.  Go to cell a9 and type the number 3
45.  Tab one time and type the number 4 in cell b9.
46.  Tab one time and you will hear the answer 12.
47.  Go to cell c10
48.  Type =a10*b10
49.  Tab one time.
50.  Left arrow one time and you will hear “zero” (0).
51.  Go to cell a10 and type the number 5.
52.  Tab one tie and type the number 4 in cell b10.
53.  Tab one tie and you will hear the answer 20.
54.  Go to cell c11.
55.  Type =a11/b11
56.  Tab one time.
57.  Left arrow one time and you will hear something like number div slash 0; this is fine, it does mean that you have set up a division formula.  The number in cell b11 will be going into the number in cell a11.
58.  Go to cell a11 and type the number 6.
59.  Tab one time and type the number 2 in cell b11.
60.  Tab one time and you should hear the answer 2.
61.  Save this file as Excel Lesson Eight.
62.  Print 2 copies of this spreadsheet.  Given one to the teacher, and keep one for yourself.

Assignment:  Open Excel.  Put your name in cell a1.  Auto adjust the column to match the width of your name.  Write an addition formula in cell c5; a subtraction formula in cell c6, a multiplication formula in cell c7, and a division formula in cell c8.  Put numbers in each row so that each formula yields an answer.  For example, put a number in cell a5 and another in b5, then go to cell c5 to hear the answer.  When you are finished, go to cell a1.  Save the file as Excel Assignment Eight.  Print 2 copies of the file.  Give one copy to the teacher, and keep one file for yourself.
