Making a column wider.

1.  Open Excel.  In Excel 2013 hit either the Escape or Enter key to open a blank spread sheet.
2.  Press control home to make sure you are in cell a1.
3.  Type both your first and last name.
4.  Tab one time.
5.  Type the number 1.
6.  Tap the left arrow key one time.  You will hear the whole name, but will only see a part of it.
7.  Press and hold down the alt key and tap the letter o.
8.  Release the keys.
9.  Tap the letter c.
10.  Tap the letter a—the column will auto adjust to the length of your full name.
11.  Go to cell a2.
12.  Type you first, middle, and last name.
13.  Tab one time.
14.  Shift tab one time to get back to cell a2.
15.  Press and hold down the alt key and tap the letter o.
16.  Release the keys.
17.  Tap the letter c.
18.  Tap the letter a.
19.  Go to cell a3.
20.  Type “Today is a nice day.”
21.  Tab one time.
22.  Shift tab one time.
23.  Press alt o.
24.  Tap the letter c.
25.  Tap the letter a.
26.  Tab one time.
27.  Shift tab one time and the entire sentence will be visible.
28.  Save the file as Excel Lesson Seven.
29.  Print two copies of the file.  Given one to the teacher and keep one for yourself.

Assignment:  Open Excel.  Type your whole name in cell a1.  Write out the date in long form in cell a2.  Go to cell a1 and auto fit it to the length of your name.  Save the file as Excel Assignment Seven.  Print two copies.  Give one copy to the teacher, and keep one file for yourself.
