Making Decimals Change to Two Places Key Command

There are times when there will be a very long decimal number in an Excel cell and you need just two places to the right of the decimal.  If you need the number to be "Currency," simply press the Control Shift 5 key combination.  If you need a "General" number that is not currency, move out of the cell that has the longer decimal, and then back into that cell.  Press and hold down the Control and Shift keys and hit the number 1 key (above the alphabet keys).  The longer decimal is immediately rounded and taken down to two places.

Try the following to practice this skill.

1.  Open Excel.  In Excel 2013 hit the Escape key or the Enter key one time to open a blank spread sheet.
2.  In cell a1 type "3.45872" (without the quotes).
3.  Press and hold down the Control and Shift keys and hit the number 1 key (just above the alphabet keys).  You should instantly hear the number "3.46."
4.  Move down to cell a2 and try your own number.
