Copy, Cut and Paste Lesson
There will be times when you are typing a long document that you need
to copy a word or phrase again-an-again, throughout the text. Instead
of re-typing the information over-and-over, there is a simple way to
copy and paste the information. We will start this lesson with an easy
copy paste activity. First, press control a to highlight this entire
document. Next, press control c to copy it—this information will go
into the Windows clipboard, which is a place where copied information
is stored. Now, open your word processor. When a blank page comes up,
press control v to paste the text from this page into your word
processor.
HINT: If you need to go between your word processor and this page,
press and hold the alt key (by the spacebar) and tap the tab key.
Now, we are ready to copy and paste one single
word. The word is pizza. Press control right arrow to go to
the word pizza, just below this paragraph. Now, press control
shift right arrow to highlight the word pizza. Now, press control
c to copy the word pizza. Finally, tap enter two times and press
control v to paste the word pizza. You will notice that you have
the word pizza at the end of your document, two times. You can
keep pressing control v to paste the word pizza again-an-again.
Go to the top of this document using Control Home and highlight
the words "Copy, Cut and Paste Lesson." Now, press Control x to
cut the text. Next, press Control End to move to the bottom of
the document. Hit the Enter key one time. Finally, press
Control v to paste the words "Cut, Copy and Paste Lesson." Hit
Enter key one more time and press Control v to paste the same text.
You now have the words "Cut, Copy and Paste Lesson" two times at
the end of your document. Type different words and practice
cutting or copying them, and then pasting them into a different
location in the document--it might be fun to paste the word "pizza" at
the top of this document. Go to the internet and find a page you
like, highlight some of the text, issuce the Control c to copy, and
then Alt Tab back to this document and use Control v to paste it in the
location you want.
