In most word processors you can quickly access the "Synonyms" list for the word you are on by tapping the Applications key, down arrowing to "Synonyms," right arrowing to get into the list of alternate words, down arrow until you hear or see the word you want to use, and then tapping the Enter key one time. This will change the original word to the alternate word you want to use. For example, you might have used the word "car" many times in your document and decide that it does not read the way you want because you have too many "car" words. You can use the Applications key and Synonyms menu item to bring of a list of alternative words such as "auto, automobile, motor car," to give variety to your document. Do the following to enhance your skill at selecting alternative words for a word you have used too many times in a document. You will need to Alt Tab between your document and this lesson.
1. Open your word processor.
2. Type the word "car" (without the quotes) four times.
3. Tap the Home key to be sure you are at the beginning of the line.
4. Your cursor is on the first word "car" at the start of the line. Tap the Applications key one time.
5. Down arrow to the "Synonyms" menu item.
6. Right arrow one time to go to the sub menu of alternate words.
7. Down arrow until you hear or see the word you want to use as a replacement.
8. Tap the Enter key one time and the new word will replace the original word.
9. Press and hold down the Control key and tap the right arrow key one time to move to the second word "car."
10. Tap the Applications key one time.
11. Down arrow to the "Synonyms" menu item.
12. Right arrow one time to bring up the sub menu of alternate words.
13. Down arrow to the word you want.
14. Tap the Enter key one time and the original word is replaced with the new word.
15. Press and hold down the Control key and tap the right arrow key one time.
16. Tap the Applications key one time.
17. Down arrow to find a new word.
18. Tap the Enter key one time.
19. Press and hold down the Control key and tap the right arrow key one time.
20. Tap the Applications key one time.
21. Down arrow to the "Synonyms" menu item.
22. Right arrow one time.
23. Down arrow to the word you want to use.
24. Tap the Enter key one time.
